How Do I...  Transfer Ownership?

To transfer the recorded ownership of your horse…

Mail the entire, original Certificate of Registration, with the "transfer section" completed, along with the appropriate fees, to the Association at:

Arabian Horse Association
PO Box 173886
Denver, CO 80217-3886

If the name listed in the "buyer section" is not the current owner and additional transfers have taken place, we will need a copy of a bill of sale for each additional transfer. The first transfer fee will be assessed using the fee schedule above. Additional transfers processed at the same time will be $15/each.

Please note; a bill of sale must include the date of sale, the registration name/number of the horse, the identity of the buyer(s) and the signature of the seller(s).

Is the buyer a minor?

If the person listed in the buyer section is a minor, a parent or guardian will need to complete a Minor Authorization Form, in addition to the instructions above. This form will be mailed to you, if you indicate that the buyer is a minor when submitting your transfer request. Click Here, to download this form.

Is the seller deceased?

If the seller is deceased, an authorized signer must be placed on record with the Association in order to sign on behalf of the deceased.

Before we can accept the signature of another person on behalf of the deceased we must receive the document(s) specified in any ONE of the following options:

  1. A copy of the last will and testament stating who has been appointed as personal representative for the deceased AND a certified copy of the death certificate.

OR

  1. 2. A certified copy of a letter of testamentary from an attorney, which identifies the deceased and specifies who is appointed as personal representative.

OR

  1. 3. An attorney's opinion letter stating that, under the laws of the state in which the deceased resided, the estate was not probated. This letter must identify the person who is heir to and can execute documents on behalf of the estate.

To inquire whether or not an authorized signer has been placed on record, please call 303-696-4500, Option 2 or email us at info@ArabianHorses.org.

If you purchased and imported your horse from Canada, your transfer instructions are slightly different.
