Competitions Achievement Awards

Earn recognition for you and your horse through the AHA Achievement Award programs. Amateur Riders can participate in the year-end points race. Horses earn Achievement Awards points and have permanent symbols added to their name, signifying honor and prestige.

 

Fee Summary

Horse Achievement Awards:

  • Initial enrollment fee/horse - $50
  • Annual renewal fee/horse - $50
  • Retroactive points fee/year - $100
  • Duplicate plaque - varies

 

Amateur Achievement Awards:

  • Initial enrollment fee - $50
  • Annual renewal fee - $50
  • Retroactive points fee/year (2002 points forward) - $100

 

 

Important Achievement Award Plaque Update

If you have received a letter or notification that you and/or your horse has earned the next award for the achievement awards program but have not received the plaque yet. Currently due to supply chain shortages your plaque will be delayed in getting shipped to you. However, once our vendor has been received or been restocked with the supplies, they will be shipping out the plaques as soon as they are able.

Horse Achievement Awards

AHA's premier recognition program for horses that actively compete. Achievement Awards symbols printed behind a horse's name provide a visible sign of honor and prestige. Horses earn points for competing and placing in AHA-recognized events, including: 

 

  • Breeding/in-hand classes
  • Performance classes
  • Competitive trail rides
  • Endurance rides
  • Combined driving
  • Arabian racing
  • Gymkhana
  • Dressage
  • Pleasure carriage driving
  • Eventing

 

This unique program may be the only one in the equine industry that adds achievement symbols that become a permanent part of a horse's name. 

 

Awards for any combination of points:

 

LEGION OF HONOR "+" (EST.1980)

 

  • Arabians - 75 points
  • Half-Arabians/Anglo-Arabians - 60 points

LEGION OF SUPREME HONOR "+/" (EST.1980)

 

  • Arabians - 150 points
  • Half-Arabians/Anglo - Arabians-120 points

LEGION OF EXCELLENCE "+//" (EST.1992)

 

  • Arabians - 300 points
  • Half-Arabians/Anglo-Arabians - 240 points
  • Requires one National Top Ten or better and one Regional Top Five or better or two National Top Tens or better

Awards for a combination of Breeding/In-Hand points and Performance points:

 

LEGION OF MERIT "++" (EST.1965)

 

  • Arabians - 75 points, with a minimum of 30 in breeding/in-hand and 30 in performance
  • Half-Arabians/Anglo-Arabians - 60 points, with a minimum of 25 in breeding/in-hand and 25 in performance

LEGION OF SUPREME MERIT "+++" (EST.1980)

 

  • Arabians - 150 points, with a minimum of 60 in breeding/in-hand and 60 in performance
  • Half-Arabians/Anglo-Arabians - 120 points, with a minimum of 50 breeding/in-hand and 50 in performance

LEGION OF MASTERS "++++" (EST.1992)

 

  • Arabians - 300 points, with a minimum of 120 in breeding/in-hand and 120 in performance
  • Half-Arabians/Anglo-Arabians - 240 points, with a minimum of 100 in breeding/in-hand and 100 in performance
  • Requires one Regional Top Five or better or National Top Ten or better in breeding/in-hand and one Regional Top Five or better or National Top Ten or better in performance. One win must be at the National level

The following symbol levels represent combinations of the above categories and levels - no additional plaques are awarded for these symbol levels:

 

  • LEGION OF SUPREME HONOR and LEGION OF MERIT "++/"
  • LEGION OF SUPREME HONOR and LEGION OF SUPREME MERIT "+++/"

  • $100 per back calendar year or partial year for points earned prior to a horse's enrollment

Amateur Achievement Awards

1652B-076 world_wv BorderModeled after the popular Achievement Awards Program, which tracks a horse's performance, the Amateur Achievement Awards (AAA) Program assigns points to individual riders, handlers and drivers. Riders don't have to own the horse they compete with since this program tracks riders only. Available for youth and adults.

 

Qualifying classes and rides include AHA Recognized & U.S. Equestrian Federation/EC-rated shows and events; Endurance & Competitive Trail Rides and Open Dressage Classes; USEA Eventing; and some pole bending and barrel racing competitions in Arabian divisions.

 

Points are awarded as follows:

 

For showmanship, breeding or in-hand classes

 

  • Handler of Honor Champion - 75 points
  • Handler of Supreme Honor Champion - 150 points
  • Handler of Excellence Champion - 300 points (Requires two quality achievements** in Showmanship, Breeding and/or In-Hand Classes)

For performance classes or distance rides

 

  • Rider of Honor Champion - 75 points
  • Rider of Supreme Honor Champion - 150 points
  • Rider of Excellence Champion - 300 points (Requires two quality achievements** in performance classes, dressage, equitation, eventing, racing, competitive trail or endurance rides)

For showmanship, breeding, in-hand, performance classes and distance rides

 

  • Horseman of Merit Champion - 75 points with a minimum of 30 points in Showmanship, Breeding and In-Hand classes and 30 points in performance classes, dressage, equitation, eventing, racing competitive trail or endurance rides
  • Horseman of Supreme Merit Champion - 150 points with a minimum of 60 points in Showmanship, Breeding and In-Hand classes and 60 points in performance classes, dressage, equitation, eventing, racing competitive trail or endurance rides
  • Master Horseman Champion - 300 points (Requires two quality achievements**) with a minimum of 120 points in Showmanship, Breeding and In-Hand classes and 120 points in performance classes, dressage, equitation, eventing, racing competitive trail or endurance rides

** Quality Achievements are 2 National Top Tens or a Regional Top Five & a National Top Ten
